SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University has announced the hiring of Kelly Vergin as its Director of Athletics Communication.
"Athletics communications plays an important role in the success of our programs, and we are fortunate to have Kelly joining our team" says athletic director Pam Samuelson. "His professionalism, extensive experience, and knowledge of Division III athletics will serve us well in covering the broad base of varsity sports that we offer."
Vergin comes to Susquehanna from St. Lawrence University where he has served as an assistant director of sports information since 2015. Prior to his time at St. Lawrence, he was the sports information director at his alma mater, The College at Brockport, for ten years.
"I am very excited for the opportunity to take over as Director of Athletic Communications at Susquehanna" Vergin commented. "I would like to thank Director of Athletics Pam Samuelson and the search committee for the opportunity to continue my career at Susquehanna. I have heard so many great things about the department staff and I can't wait to start working as part of the River Hawks team."
Vergin began his career working as the director of sports information at Plattsburgh State from 2003-2005, where he was responsible for eleven varsity sports. Following his time at Plattsburgh he went to The College at Brockport. While at Brockport he was the primary contact for 23 varsity sports and was a supervisor for up to 25 staff members.
In addition, Vergin has been a member of CoSIDA for 20 years.
Vergin graduated from The College at Brockport in 1989 with a degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport Management. He earned his Master's degree Athletics Administration from The College at Brockport in 2014.
