Second-Annual Mr. SU a Success
Susquehanna’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
(SAAC) hosted its second-annual Mr. SU Contest on March 22 and the
event was a rousing success, as SAAC raised $500 for the Special
Olympics, the Landmark Conference’s charity of choice.
Nine male student-athletes from a variety of sports competed in
three different events: talent, school spirit, formal wear/pickup
line. After the judges deliberated, the top five finalists were
chosen. The finalists then answered a randomly selected question
before the winner was announced.
Senior Bobby Eppleman, a multi-sport athlete, won
the overall Mr. SU title. Other winners included baseball teammates
Calvin Hug and Matt
Lottes (talent), who performed an Irish dance complete
with costume; B.J. Merriam (school spirit) and
Logan Skillman (formal wear/pick-up line).
SAAC Hosting Annual Crusaders Care Food Drive
SAAC will host its annual Crusaders Care Canned Food Drive on Saturday, Dec. 18, during the women’s basketball 1 p.m. game against McDaniel.
Second-Annual Crusader Carvings
On October 24, 2010 the Susquehanna University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held its second annual Halloween Crusader Carvings event for the children in the Selinsgrove Community. Children from the Selinsgrove Community came out to enjoy a fun day carving and painting pumpkins, face painting, and games at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium. Athletes from every Susquehanna team came out to make sure that each and every kid had a fun day and could take an awesome looking pumpkin home for Halloween. The Susquehanna University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee would like to thank all of those sponsors that donated to help with the event, such as Papa Johns, Ards Farm, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Weis Markets, Dunkin Doughnuts, Aramark Dining Services, and Giant.
Third-Annual Homecoming Uniform Sale
On Homecoming Weekend, October 23, 2010, The Susquehanna Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held the 3rd annual Homecoming Uniform Sale. During the Homecoming Football Game, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sold the jerseys of past Susquehanna Athletic Teams. Alumni, parents, kids, and current students took a look through and could enjoy seeing their old jerseys or just having a piece of Susquehanna memorabilia. Along with purchasing uniforms from past Susquehanna Athletic Teams, BAM BAMs or noisemakers were given out for free to help support the Susquehanna Football Team on Homecoming.
