SU Sports Hall of Fame

The Susquehanna University Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1967 to honor former SU student-athletes and coaches who distinguished themselves during their years competing for the Orange and Maroon.

Hall of Fame Guidelines

Eligibility

• Any athlete who competed in at least one intercollegiate sport at Susquehanna University and is a graduate of Susquehanna is eligible for selection to the SU Sports Hall of Fame. An athlete will not be considered, however, until five years after his or her graduation. (December graduates will be considered to have graduated in the following year.)

• Any coach of an intercollegiate sport at the university who has coached at least one sport for a minimum of five seasons is eligible for selection to the Hall of Fame.

• Any other individual (trainer, faculty member, etc.) who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, has made an outstanding contribution to the SU Athletics program is eligible for selection to the Hall of Fame.

Number of Selections

• It is recommended that no more than five persons be selected to the Hall of Fame each year. The Selection Committee should also not feel obligated to select five members each year.

Selection Committee

• The committee should consist of at least 10 persons. The Director of Athletics and Director of Athletics Communications/Sports Information Director will be two members of the committee.

• At least six members of the committee must be Susquehanna alumni.

• The Director of Athletics will set up all meetings of the committee and notify all members.

• The DAC/SID will keep an updated list of Hall of Fame candidates and will prepare a growing list of candidates for the annual meetings.

• A quorum of eight committee members must be present at the annual meetings for selections to be valid.

Selection Procedure

• Any person may submit names for consideration to the Hall of Fame (along with supporting information) to members of the committee or the SU Office of Alumni Relations.

• All names and information of new Hall of Fame candidates should be given to the DAC/SID at least two weeks before the annual Selection Committee meeting.

• The committee will meet in the early fall of each year.

• The Director of Athletics will notify the newest Hall of Famer(s) of his/her/their induction no later than one week following the annual Selection Committee meeting.

• The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held following a home basketball doubleheader in late January or early February each year. The inductees will be formally invited to the festivities by the Director of Athletics during the fall.

• Public announcement of the newest Hall of Famer(s) will be handled by the DAC/SID in advance of the induction ceremony.

The 2010 induction ceremony was held at the university's Degenstein Campus Center on Saturday, Feb. 20. Inductees are (pictured above from left to right): Jack Burns ("Voice of the Crusaders"), Matt Fenstermacher '01 (men's track & field/football), Craig Harper '92 (men's basketball), Cassie Henry '96 Rumbaugh (field hockey/women's lacrosse), Sandy Jenkin '99 (women's lacrosse/basketball) and Chris Rembisz-Bryan '95 (baseball).
