The Susquehanna men’s golf team took fifth overall at the two-day Glenmaura Invitational. Junior Steve Welkie was third overall in the field of 60 golfers after shooting a two-day score of 149, including an even par 71 on Monday, tied for the lowest score in either round.

The two-day Bison Open track & field meet came to a close on Saturday evening. The Susquehanna men’s and women’s track & field teams saw multiple PRs set while perhaps the biggest highlight came from freshman Ashley West, who broke the school’s 800 meter record.

Competing in the last home meet of the season against non-conference opponent Albright, Susquehanna’s swimming program earned a split as the women defeated the Lions 106.5-98.5 but the men fell 108-97 on Saturday afternoon during Senior Day.

Fifteen three-pointers were not enough to lead the Susquehanna men’s basketball team to a win over visiting Juniata as the Crusaders fell 86-70 to the Eagles on Wednesday night.

Second-Half Comeback Falls Short
A 25-6 second-half run from the Susquehanna women’s basketball team cut what had been a 21-point Juniata lead to two points late in the contest, but unfortunately the Eagles closed out the game on a scoring streak to come away with the 70-60 win.

The Susquehanna men’s and women’s track & field teams took home three of the possibly four weekly Landmark Conference Awards. Ashley West was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week while Kwane Hayle and Ken Schetroma were the respective Male Track and Male Field Athletes of the Week.

Lessard Captures Conference Swimmer of the Week
After winning three individual races and setting a pair of pool records at Juniata on Saturday, senior Devin Lessard has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the period ending Jan. 20. This is her second honor this season, as she picked up the award on Oct. 29.

An 18-point halftime lead for the Susquehanna women’s basketball team seemed to indicate the Crusaders would have little trouble putting visiting Goucher away for good in the second half.
