    SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University’s senior shortstop and pitcher Andy Berwager (Hanover/South Western H.S.) is on the 2000 GTE Academic All-America College Division District II Baseball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Berwager is one of only two players on the 11-player team from the Middle Atlantic Conference — with the other one being his junior brother Shawn Berwager, who is a shortstop and pitcher at Lebanon Valley College.

    SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team led all schools with seven selections to its Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star teams. The Crusader baseball and softball teams also had one first-team selection to their respective MAC Commonwealth First Team All-Stars, with baseball getting two second-team picks and softball one. The All-Stars were released Thursday by the conference office.

    SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University senior Chad Walters (Oley/Oley Valley H.S.) is this week's MAC Commonwealth Conference Baseball Player of the Week as he hit .700 (7-for-10) with a double, three runs batted in and a run scored – also extending his hitting streak to 16 games as the team split two games. The conference leader in batting, now at .470 (31-for-66), he extended that streak to 18 games with a single in each game of Monday's MAC Commonwealth doubleheader at Albright.

    SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Susquehanna University baseball team is presently tied for second place in the MAC Commonwealth Conference, and appears to be in position to clinch a berth in the conference championship tournament for the first time since 1995 with just a split of its season ending doubleheader Saturday at Juniata (20-12-2, 6-6 MAC CC). That won’t come easy as those games will be the final ones in the 32-year career of Juniata head coach Bill Berrier, who has won 419 games during his tenure.

Each will take a big step towards their ultimate destiny next Monday as they return from the Easter recess to face critical conference road twinbills.

That’s why both the Susquehanna University baseball and softball teams face important weeks — with the baseball team hosting first-place Messiah (11-7, 2-0 MAC CC) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, and the softball team playing twinbills at conference rivals Juniata (2-4, 0-2 MAC CC) Wednesday, and then four-time defending MAC champion Messiah (6-8, 0-0 MAC CC) Saturday.
