Cameron Ott and Ben Burman had three hits each for the Susquehanna University Baseball team but it was not enough as Ohio Wesleyan handed the River Hawks a 6-3 loss Tuesday in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Ohio Wesleyan (2-5) opened with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead.

Susquehanna (3-6) cut the lead in half with a run in the third inning. Ott led off the inning with a single and later stole second and scored two batters later as Dylan Jenkins connected on a two-out single to center field.

It remained a one-run game until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Battling Bishops plated two more runs to take a 4-1 lead.

The River Hawks answered with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to trim the lead back to one. In the seventh, Tom Giaimo singled with one out and later stole second with two out to move into scoring position before Taylor Luckenbill singled to drive in the run.

In the eighth inning, Cole Luzins was hit by pitch with one out and moved to second on a ground out. One batter later, he scored when Burman doubled to right field making the score 4-3.

Ohio Wesleyan added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run homer to end the scoring.

Ott was 3-for-5 and Burman was 3-for-4 and Giaimo and Luckenbill had two hits each. Tyson Thrush allowed four runs – one earned – over six innings while Liam Conboy finished the game.

Susquehanna returns to action at 2 p.m. Wednesday against Amherst in Port Charlotte.
