The waiting is over the for Susquehanna University Baseball team as the final standings and Landmark Conference Tournament match ups were decided and announced Sunday afternoon.
Susquehanna (22-17 Overall, 12-6 Landmark) finished second in the final standings and will face Elizabethtown (24-14, 11-7) in the first round of the tournament that will be held at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and starts Friday afternoon. Catholic (27-12, 13-5) won the regular season title and will face Drew (26-14, 11-7) in a 12 p.m. game to open the tournament. The Susquehanna vs. Elizabethtown game is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
Competition continues Saturday and Sunday in the double elimination tournament with the winner receiving the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Susquehanna won two of the three games with Elizabethtown in the regular season series with two games going into extra innings and two games being decided by a single run. The River Hawks won a 5-4 victory in the first game of the series that was schedule to be a seven-inning game but went to the eighth and Elizabethtown came back to win a 6-3 decision in the second seven-inning game that lasted 11 innings. In the nine-inning game, Susquehanna posted a 9-8 victory scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth inning.
