Cheerleading's Kristen Konski Named Outstanding Senior Woman

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- The Susquehanna University Alumni Association recently selected Kristen Konski (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) as its Outstanding Senior Woman for 2010.

A three-year letterwinner, Konski served as a Susquehanna cheerleading co-captain and choreographer this past academic year and was voted the 2010 Most Outstanding Cheerleader by her teammates. She also served as secretary of SU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Those leadership roles, combined with a host of other activities--including internships and on-campus jobs--led to her selection for the honor.

"We are so proud of Kristen," said SU Head Coach Jennifer Botchie '99. "Susquehanna students in general are so active, but her outstanding energy while balancing an extremely full schedule really goes above and beyond."

With a history that dates to the 1960s, the SU Alumni Association honors two seniors each year--one man and one woman--who "most typify the ideals of Susquehanna University."

Each spring, a campus committee reviews nominations from faculty and staff members and selects the best candidates for the honor. Konski and this year's male winner were honored and presented with a medal at Susquehanna's senior awards banquet on May 8.

Konski received her undergraduate degree in communications with an emphasis in broadcasting on May 16.
