SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has tabbed football player Bill Mancini (Malvern, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) and women’s soccer goalie Rachel Norbuts (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) as September’s Rookie Super Crusaders of the Month.
Both have been full-time starters for their respective squads. Mancini, a defensive lineman, has recorded 19 tackles and is tied for the team-lead with six tackles for loss. In addition, he leads all SU defenders with four sacks for a total of 20 yards lost and is the only Susquehanna defender with multiple sacks. Mancini has also forced a fumble and broken up a pass.
Norbuts has started all 10 games in goal for the Crusaders and has thrived under pressure. Her last-second save preserved SU’s shutout of Neumann and she helped pick up an overtime win against Lebanon Valley. Norbuts also tallied seven saves against Landmark Conference opponent Catholic. She currently ranks second in the league with 57 saves and her 889:16 minutes of action are second most among league goalies.
A male and female Rookie Super Crusader are named each month by Susquehanna’s SAAC Committee. A full list of the weekly and monthly winners can be found online.
