Football Announces 2012 Schedule
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The 2012 Susquehanna football schedule
has been released and is highlighted by six home contests this
coming fall.
The Crusaders, under the direction of head coach Steve
Briggs, will enjoy home field advantage in six of their 10
games, beginning with their Sept. 1 season opener against USMMA, a
team SU has not played since 2009.
Susquehanna remains at home on Sept. 8 to open Centennial
Conference play against defending conference champion Johns
Hopkins. A road game at Dickinson follows before a two-game
homestand against Gettysburg and Muhlenberg follows on Sept. 22 and
29, respectively.
The Muhlenberg game marks Homecoming Weekend for the SU community.
The evening prior to that game, the SU Sports Hall of Fame Class of
2012 will be inducted and the class will also be recognized during
halftime of Saturday’s game.
For the first and only time in 2012, the Crusaders hit the road
for back-to-back games beginning Oct. 13 at Moravian. SU then
travels to Ursinus on Oct. 20.
Franklin & Marshall visits Lopardo Stadium on Oct. 27 and
November begins with a game at McDaniel on Nov. 3. The regular
season then comes to a close on Nov. 10 when SU plays host to
Juniata in the annual Goal Post Trophy game.
The Crusaders finished 2011 with a 6-4 record, including a 5-4
mark in conference games. Those six victories marked a four-win
improvement from the 2010 season. In addition, seven SU players
received All-Centennial Conference status.
