SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Freshman Brodie Ercole (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) and senior Heather Moore (Columbus, N.J. / Peddie) scored for the Susquehanna field hockey team as SU defeated Albright 2-0 in the opening game of the inaugural Connie Harmon Field Hockey Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Ercole scored her first career goal seven minutes into the game. Moore’s goal came at 54:31 in the second half.
Junior midfielder Ally Bradley (Jamison, Pa. / Central Bucks South) registered 14 shots on goal, unfortunately none of them found the back of the net.
Susquehanna (1-0) outshot Albright (0-1) 35-6 and held an 11-4 edge in penalty corners .
SU senior goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J. / Seneca) recorded two saves in the shutout. Albright’s Marguerite DeLucas was credited with 17 saves.
In the second game of the afternoon, St. Mary’s (Md.) defeated Misericordia 3-1 to advance to the title game tomorrow.
The Crusaders will face St. Mary’s (Md.) in the championship at 3:00 pm. The consolation game between Albright and Misericordia will be played at 12:00 pm.
