Field Hockey Adds a Pair of Assistant Coaches

Susquehanna University's new Head Coach for Field Hockey, Allison Fordyce, has added two assistants to her coaching staff and both have strong ties to the local Field Hockey community.

Danielle Ard and Ashtin Klingler were both added to the coaching staff as assistant coaches for the start of the 2017 season.

"I felt that it was important to bring in quality assistant coaches that also had local ties," said Fordyce. "Danielle and Ashtin have both been around great high school and college hockey programs and will bring a winning attitude to the program."

Ard played high school field hockey locally at Mifflinburg High School and also had an outstanding college career at East Stroudsburg University. At Mifflinburg, she was a three-year starter in goal and helped the team to the 2012 Pennsylvania Heartland Conference Division I championship. She went on to help East Stroudsburg to the NCAA Division II National Championship with a 1-0 overtime victory over Merrimack. The shutout win was one of her school-record 15 career solo shutouts.

Klingler played high school field hockey for Selinsgrove High School and went on to play college hockey at Syracuse University as a freshman before transferring to Penn State where she played her final three years. She finished with 25 career goals in college including a season-high 11 goals including four game winners as a junior in 2012.

Klingler was most recently the head coach at Line Mountain High School where she led the team to the 2016 District IV Championship.

Ard has coaching experience as an assistant with the Bison Indoor Hockey Club in Lewisburg, Pa.

The River Hawks open the 2017 season September 2 against Wilkes University in the first round of the annual Connie Harnum Classic. Kean (NJ) University and Ithaca College are also playing in the 2017 Harnum Classic.
