The Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team has been selected as a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award winner for the 2016-17 season as announced on the NABC website Tuesday.
The award is presented to teams that have achieved a combined grade point average of at least 3.0 for the 2016-17 academic year.
The fifth annual award, created by the NABC Committee on Academics, honored 218 teams from NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA. Three teams from the Landmark Conference (Juniata, Catholic and Susquehanna) were selected for t academic award.
The River Hawks completed the 2016-17 season with a final record of 23-6 and advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.
