Men’s Basketball Tabbed to Finish Third in the Landmark

The Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team has been picked to finish third in the final Landmark Conference standings according to the annual preseason coach's poll that was released by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Scranton was a unanimous choice for the top spot with 70 points and seven first-place votes. The next three spots in the poll were very close in the voting with Moravian (45 points), Susquehanna (44) and Catholic (42) taking the second, third and fourth place spots respectively.

Juniata (29) was fifth in the voting followed by Drew (21), Goucher (12) and Elizabethtown (9).

Last year, Susquehanna finished 23-6 overall and 11-3 in Landmark games. The River Hawks were tied for first place in the final conference standings and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the tournament.

The River Hawks open the 2017-18 season Wednesday night at home against Bethany (WV) College and will host the Susquehanna Trailways Tipoff Tournament Friday and Saturday, November 17-18. Susquehanna will play King's College in the first round of the tournament and face either Rowan or Albright in the consolation or championship game Saturday afternoon.
