LANCASTER, Pa. – Playing in its second tournament in three days, the Susquehanna men's golf team earned a 13th-place finish at Monday's Franklin & Marshall Invitational.
The Crusaders shot a team score of 340 to place 13th out of 18 teams at the event. The F&M Blue squad captured the overall title with a score of 305 on the par 71 course (6728 yards).
Sophomore Steve Welkie (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) was SU's top finisher, shooting a 79 to tie for 20th overall. Six strokes behind him were Corey Lewis and Kevin Phelan (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte County Day School). Pat Neal (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) (86) and Don Dreamer (Shavertown, Pa./Holy Redeemer) (90) rounded out the Crusaders' squad.
Susquehanna returns to action on Oct. 8-9 at the McDaniel Invitational.
