Preston Ouellette scored a man-up goal with five minutes left in the fourth quarter to tie the game for the Susquehanna University Men's Lacrosse team at 7-7 but Elizabethtown scored a pair of goals in a span of 47 seconds in the closing minutes to take a 9-7 victory in the Landmark Conference contest Saturday on Wolf Field in Elizabethtown.
After Elizabethtown (6-3 overall, 2-0 Landmark) scored less than a minute into the game to take an early lead, Chet McLaughlin answered with a goal six seconds later for Susquehanna (7-3, 0-1) to knot the game at 1-1.
The Blue Jays scored the final two goals of the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead into the first break.
Erik Lanyi scored for the River Hawks to start the second quarter but Elizabethtown scored late in the period to regain the two-goal lead and took the 4-2 edge into the halftime intermission.
The teams traded goals in the third quarter with each scoring twice as McLaughlin added his second goal of the game and Alec Tzaneteas scored for Susquehanna.
Tzaneteas added his second of the game to start the fourth quarter. A minute later, Elizabethtown answered to go up 7-5.
Less than two minutes later, Tzaneteas completed the hat trick to trim the lead to a single goal with 10:05 left on the clock.
The score remained 7-6 for just over five minutes before Ouellette scored on the man advantage to tie the score late in the game but the Blue Jays scored at the 3:40 mark and with 2:53 on the clock to finish the scoring.
Tzaneteas finished with five points on three goals and two assists while McLaughlin and Jake Smolokoff each had a pair of points as McLaughlin scored twice and Smolokoff added two assists.
Dylan Abplanalp made six saves in the River Hawks goal.
Susquehanna will host Moravian April 1 at 1 p.m. on Sassafras Field.
