Swimmers Named Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s and women’s swimming are represented this week as juniors Chadd Lee (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg) and Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md. / Queen Anne’s County) and freshman Lexi Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville) have been named as the SAAC Super Crusaders of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.

Lee guided the men’s program to a third place finish over the weekend and was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Year and the Swimmer of the Week in the process.

He won three events at the meet including a victory in the 200 IM on Friday, finishing in a meet-record and personal-best time of 1:53.96. On Saturday, he won the 400 IM with a mark of 4:12.31 and ended the weekend with a win in the 200 butterfly by swimming 1:55.87, a career-best time.

Lessard helped SU win its second-consecutive Landmark Swimming & Diving Championship and was named the Women’s Swimmer of the Year and Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season. She won three individual events and swam the third leg on the final 400 relay that the Crusaders won by 0.2 seconds to clinch the title.

She won the 200 IM on Friday with a personal-best time of 2:09.49. On Sunday, she won the 1,650 free in a conference-record and career-best time of 17:24.82 and the 200 butterfly in 2:08.32. In total, she set two new Landmark records and swam a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying times over the course of the three-day meet.

Cole was named the Landmark Rookie of the Year after helping the Crusaders win the conference title by swimming the second leg in the 400 relay. On Friday, she placed second in the 500 free in 5:14.72 and set a p.r. in the preliminaries in 5:11.65. In the 200 free on Saturday, she finished in second with a personal-best mark of 1:56.15. On Sunday she won the 200 back in 2:08.40, another p.r.

She also anchored the first place 800 yard freestyle relay squad to a school-record time of 8:00.14. She helped the 200 yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish (1:40.86).
