SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Both the Susquehanna men's and women's swim teams improved to 2-0 on the season by sweeping Catholic on Saturday afternoon in their home opener. The women grabbed a 164-98 win while the men were victorious by a 146-115 score.
The Crusaders (2-0, 2-0) took second in the opening 200 medley relay and the 1000 free before picking up their first win in the 200 free, thanks to Tyler Long's (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) winning time of 1:53.72.
SU went two-three in the 100 backstroke for seven points and Cameron Boster (Burke, Va./Robinson Secondary School) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.25.
Chadd Lee (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) picked up nine more first-place points in the 200 fly (2:08.43) and Josh Heller (Rockville, Md./Colonel Zadok Magruder) captured the 50 free with a time of 21.99. Heller picked up back-to-back victories by also winning the 100 free (50.08).
Boster accounted for SU's next win as he swam to first in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.47) and Long won the 500 free with a time of 5:12.02, nearly four seconds ahead of the runner-up from Catholic.
Freshmen Michael Inglesby (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack Area) and Nicholas Boyle (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) went one-two in the 100 fly with respective times of 56.88 and 57.51.
The afternoon closed out with a SU win in the 200 free relay as Inglesby, Boyle, Long and Heller finished in 1:31.98.
The Crusaders are back on the road next Saturday with a 1 p.m. meet at York.
