Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes Strong to Place Third

The Susquehanna University Men's Swimming and Diving team posted two first place finishes, three seconds and a third on the final day of competition at the Landmark Conference Championships to take third as a team Sunday afternoon and evening in Germantown, Maryland.

Catholic won the team title with 809 points and Scranton was second at 584.5 points with Susquehanna finishing third with a total of 569.5 points. Drew (423 points) was fourth followed by Marywood (301), Elizabethtown (282) and Goucher (246).

The River Hawks scored well in the 200-yard breaststroke with Shane Sullivan winning the event in a time of 2:08.88. Ryan Prater and Jake Mount finished 13th and 14th respectively for Susquehanna.

Another first place finish was posted in the final event of the meet with the team of David Grove, Eric Lawrence, David Miller and James Orzolek winning the 4x100 freestyle relay with a time of 3:11.20. The River Hawks were in second place at the start of the final leg before Orzolek posted the fastest 100 of the event with a time of 46.54 leading Susquehanna into first place.

Bill Crumrine posted a second place finish in the 1,650 free with Ryan Nathan placing eighth, Bryan Colby 10th and Henry Chang 12th. Owen Madden was second in the 200-yard backstroke earlier in the night with a time of 1:57.32 and Colby was 10th for the River Hawks.

Orzolek was also second and Grove third in the 100 free. Orzolek swam a 47.34 and Grove clocked a 47.80. Miller finished 14th to score points for Susquehanna.

Lawrence took third in the 200 butterfly with a 1:58.69 while Ryan Rizzuto and Chang took seventh and 13th respectively.
