SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna track athlete, Alex Price (Skytop, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East), and softball player, Morgan Lewis (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock), have been named the SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending April 12.
Price was invited to run in the Invite section (one of four heats for a totaling of 146 runners) of the 5000m at the Bison Outdoor Classic this weekend. He was one of only six Division III runners that competed in one of the invite heats. Price finished with a personal best of 14:50.62 to place 17th overall. Out of all four heats, he was second overall among all Division III athletes. This time is third best in Susquehanna history and seventh fastest in Landmark Conference history as well as the top time this season.
Lewis was the starting pitcher in two games this week and finished with two complete games, a 0.00 ERA in 12 innings, and struck out 10 while only walking five. On April 9, against Wilkes, she only gave up four hits and struck out six in a 10-0 win. On April 11, Lewis tossed a no-hitter, with four strikeouts, in a 1-0 win over Moravian.
On the season, Lewis is 9-3 with a 2.07 ERA, 10 complete games, three shutouts and 58 strikeouts.
The men’s track and field team will continues competition on Saturday, April 18 at the Mason Dixon Invitational (at Gettysburg) while the softball team will hosts Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, April 15.
