Senior Matthew Gass finished first in the 200-meter race and was second in the 55-meter dash leading the Susquehanna University Men's Track and Field team to a sixth place finish Saturday at the DuCharme Invitational meet at Dickinson College.
Gass won the 200 in a time of 23.39 and was second in the 55 with a time of 6.67 seconds to score points for the River Hawks.
Susquehanna was sixth overall with 51 points. Messiah won the team scoring with 112.5 points followed by Lebanon Valley (77 pts), Dickinson (68), Delaware Valley (60), Juniata (60) and Susquehanna. Rounding out the top 10 teams were Gallaudet (43), Gettysburg (42), Catholic (35) and McDaniel (34).
Other top finishers for the men included Ciaran Fisher and Justin Skavery who finished fourth and eighth respectively in the mile, Kyle Skelton who shaved 14 seconds off his season best time in the 5,000-meters, Jacob Blauch and Chris Petraskie who were sixth and seventh respectively in the triple jump and Joshua Brown who was fourth in the shot put.
The team of Fisher, Skavery, Torin McFarland and Steve Rivlin took second in the 4x800 meter relay.
