Petraskie Wins Long Jump Title at Landmark Championships

Freshman Chris Petraskie won the long jump for the Susquehanna University Men's Track and Field team Saturday as the River Hawks competed at the Landmark Conference Championship meet Saturday afternoon at Moravian College in Bethlehem.

The River Hawks currently sit in fourth place in the team standings after the first day of competition with the championships concluding Sunday.

Petraskie won the conference title with a leap of 7.06 meters (23' 2") and teammate Rakee Cromwell placed fourth with a 6.69-meter jump (21' 11 1/2").

Other top finishers Saturday for Susquehanna included an impressive second place finish for fellow freshman Dylan Heisey who was runner up in the discus with a throw of 40.53 meters (133').  Stephen Vlavianos was seventh in the event with a 36.49-meter (119' 9") throw.

John DeLuca took third in the pole vault clearing 3.95 meters (12' 11 1/2") while a pair of sprinters qualified for Sunday finals with their preliminary races.

Matthew Gass was third in the 200 meters to qualify and Armond Owens was 6th in the 100 meters for Susquehanna.

Ciaran Fisher just missed the podium as he finished ninth in the 1500. His time of 4:06.91 was just a half second away from eighth place.
