Senior Matthew Gass won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.68 and placed third in the 400-meter race with a time of 49.03 and was voted by the conference coaches as the co-Track Athlete of the Year Sunday afternoon at the Landmark Conference Championship meet at Moravian College In Bethlehem.
Susquehanna finished fourth in the team standings with 123 points. Moravian won the team title with 254 points followed by Elizabethtown (163 points), Juniata (124) and the River Hawks. Catholic (77) was fifth and Goucher (32) was sixth.
Gass was the only River Hawk champion Sunday but several Susquehanna athletes found a spot on the podium despite the rainy cold conditions at the championship meet.
Chris Petraskie followed up his long jump championship from Saturday with a second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 13.36 meters (43' 10") and he also placed fourth in the high jump. Teammate Rakee Cromwell was sixth in the high jump and eighth in the triple with Jacob Blauch finishing fifth in the triple jump as the River Hawks put three finishers on the podium.
Victor Gonzalez made two trips to the podium with a second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles and a fourth place finish in the 110 hurdles. Andrew Farrell was fifth in the 110 hurdles while Blauch was fifth and Steven Rivlin was 7th in the 400 hurdles.
The throwers also finished well for Susquehanna as Michael Evans took third in the shot put and Robert Marks was third in the javelin. Stephen Vlavianos was sixth in the javelin and Dylan Heisey was 8th in the shot put.
