Men’s Track and Field Picked Third in Preseason Poll

The Susquehanna University Men's Track and Field team is predicted to finish third in the Landmark Conference standings according to the annual preseason poll recently released on the Landmark Conference website.

Moravian is predicted to repeat as conference champions for the indoor season and received the maximum 60 points in the poll results and six first place votes. Elizabethtown, who finished third behind Susquehanna at last year's championships, is picked second with 46 points and a first place vote and the River Hawks were third in the voting with 42 points. Juniata (30 points) was fourth followed by Catholic (24), Scranton (16) and Goucher (13).

The men return Chris Petraskie who won a pair of events with conference titles in both the high jump and triple jump. He was named the Field Athlete of the Year for his efforts. The River Hawks also return distance runners Ciaran Fisher and Kyle Skelton. Fisher was a standout performer during the cross country season and took second in the mile at last year's championships. Skelton was fifth in both the 3K and 5K races last year for Susquehanna.

The River Hawks also return a strong throwing contingent led by Ryan Bertsch and Joshua Brown. Brown was second in the shot put while Bertsch was sixth in the shot and fifth in the weight last year.

Susquehanna opens the 2017-18 season with the annual River Hawk Opener on December 1st at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex.
