This week, the SU athletics communications department caught up with sophomore Alyssa Cantalini as the Crusaders are gearing up for the 2013 Landmark Conference opener at No. 14 Moravian on Saturday.

Why did you choose your major?
I know that I want to be a physical therapist for my career and biology can help me get there.
What has been your favorite class so far?
My favorite class has not been biology related but it was intro to film studies. I loved the teacher and I love watching movies.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on going to graduate school back at home.
What is your favorite athletic memory as a Crusader?
My favorite memory is the bus ride down to Florida for Spring Break. We have a lot of really funny and great memories over the 19 hour drive.
What is your go-to song to get pumped up for competition?
This changes a lot but it's usually something that is very upbeat and something that I can sing to.
What is your nickname on your team?
Canada (yes, I am from Canada)
The most embarrassing thing that's happened to me on the playing field is…
I kept running around the bases when I hit a foul ball.
The best part about road trips with my team is…
The stories that are told during the drive.
What advice do you have for a prospective student-athlete?
Make sure that you pick a school that will suit your academic and athletic needs. It's a four year commitment and you want to make it count.
What are your goals for the upcoming season, both individually and as a team?
As a team, I think our goal is to focus on our game and the fundamentals. My goal is to help the team achieve the team goal.

Tostitos and salsa (thanks to my roomie)
If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
I would really love to meet Heath Ledger. I think that he was a great actor and would be really fun to meet.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would want to be in Italy because that's where my family is from and I love the art history that Italy has. The food is a big plus too.
What was your biggest high school achievement?
Maintaining honor roll status while playing sports all year round.

I am Canadian (kidding). I used to play the violin and I used to do synchronized swimming.
