Eight Softball Players Earn Scholar-Athlete Distinction

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Eight Susquehanna softball players have been named Division III Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

The eight players include third baseman Alyssa Cantalini (Kitchener, Ontario/St. David Catholic Secondary), pitcher Ashley Cole (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place), catcher Brittany Devlin (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East), outfielder Claire Hanratty (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), second baseman Lauren Gilbert (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), first baseman/designated player Madison Clark (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs), pitcher Morgan Lewis (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and infielder Stephanie Chlebove (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area).

To be named to the list, a student-athlete must have a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 during the 2013-13 academic year.

Susquehanna put together a record-breaking year in 2013, finishing with a program-record 40 victories, capturing its first-ever Landmark Conference title and grabbing three wins in the NCAA Tournament.
