Murphy Named Softball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna senior outfielder Brianna Murphy (Hazlet, N.J./Mater Dei Prep) was named the Landmark Conference Softball Athlete of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.

Murphy stared all three of SU's games this past week, hitting for a .625 batting average with five hits, seven runs scored and three RBI from the leadoff spot. Among those five hits were two triples and two home runs for a 1.875 slugging percentage and a .727 on-base percentage.

Through 14 starts this season, Murphy is batting .354 with a team-leading 16 runs scored, four home runs and two triples. She has 17 hits (seven for extra bases) and is 5-for-6 in stolen bases.

The Crusaders went 2-1 last week with both wins coming against Juniata on Sunday. The team now stands at 11-4 overall with a 4-0 Landmark Conference record.

Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday, April 4 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Landmark Conference opponent Catholic.
