WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Susquehanna softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Lycoming College on Sunday afternoon. SU lost game one 4-3 while dropping the second 9-1 after five innings.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Crusaders (16-12) tallied five hits between five players with Claire Hanratty picking up two RBI's and Lauren Creamer picking up one RBI. Jackie Gore's hit was for extra bases, the only double of the game for the Crusaders.
Pitcher Jamie Fesinstine (10-5) totaled 6.2 innings of work, allowing four runs and striking out five.
Susquehanna scored first with a run in the first inning when Creamer singled to score Gene Raley. SU increased its lead to 3-0 when Hanratty singled to score both Heather Pearson and Raley in the top of the second inning.
Unfortunately, Lycoming (14-17) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at three and won on a groundout to score Samantha Fischer in the bottom of the seventh.
Leigh Ann Greenwald was the only Susquehanna player to get a hit, a double, in the second game as the Crusaders picked up their only run when Brynn Musser scored on Raley's ground out to the shortstop.
Lycoming scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning and one in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. SU scored its lone run in the top of the fifth inning but it was not enough as the Warriors won 9-1 in five innings.
The Crusaders remain on the road Wednesday, April 20 when the team travels to Lebanon Valley College for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
