SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna softball team picked up two wins against the University of Scranton Saturday afternoon, winning 3-2 in the opener and grabbing a six-inning, 8-0 victory in game two.
In the first game of the day, the Crusaders (20-12, 7-3) tallied five hits between five players with the only extra base hit coming from Neveroski who had an inside-the-park two-run homer for. Pitcher Jamie Fesinstine picked up the complete game win in seven innings of work while striking out six.
The Royals (14-14, 4-6) scored in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead before Lauren Creamer singled to right field and scored Heather Pearson to cut the lead in half (2-1) in the bottom of the inning.
Susquehanna took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Neveroski homered to score Pearson for the 3-2 lead. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game as SU held on to win 3-2.
In game two, pitcher Alexa Gonzalez tossed a complete game shutout in six innings while tallying two strikeouts. Neveroski and Emilie Boman went 2-4 at the plate with Neveroski picking up two RBI's and one run scored and Boman totaling one RBI and one run scored.
Susquehanna scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Gore singled down the left field line to score Kelly Miller while Neveroski followed with a triple to score Hanratty and Gore.
The Crusaders scored two runs in both the third and fifth innings to go up 7-0. Boman doubled to right center in the bottom of the sixth to score Neveroski ending the game in SU's favor 8-0.
Susquehanna hits the road on Tuesday, April 26 for a doubleheader at Gettysburg. The first game starts at 5:00 p.m.
