  • Softball Tournament Games Shifted to Saturday

    Due to the less than pleasant weather forecast for Friday in central Pennsylvania, the Landmark Conference has decided to push the Softball Championship Tournament games, originally scheduled for Friday, to Saturday with the first game of the tournament (Moravian vs. Juniata) scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at Moravian.

    Senior pitcher Jamie Fesinstine has been named to the All-Landmark Conference Softball team as a First Team selection and leads a list of five River Hawks to earn postseason honors. The team was announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

    Sophomore Jackie Gore hit her 13th career home run and added a pair of doubles and a single for a perfect 4-for-4 game at the plate for the Susquehanna University Softball team Tuesday as the River Hawks rebounded from a 9-0 loss in game one to defeat Gettysburg College 8-5 in the night cap to salvage a split of the non-conference doubleheader on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

    After struggling at the plate for most of the past week, the Susquehanna University Softball team rapped out 19 hits and scored 16 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Juniata College Saturday afternoon in Landmark Conference games on West End Field in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

    Sophomore Jackie Gore smashed a fifth-inning grand slam to lead the Susquehanna University Softball team to an 11-0 victory over SUNY Geneseo Wednesday afternoon. That victory added with a 6-1 win over Roger Williams later in the afternoon gives the River Hawks a 6-0 record in the first three days of games in Leesburg and Clarmont, Florida.

    Senior pitcher Jamie Fesinstine had a perfect game through six innings and led the Susquehanna University Softball team to a 7-0 victory over Salve Regina in the first game of the day and the River Hawks scored a 6-3 win over Wisconsin River Falls in game two Monday and remained unbeaten at 4-0 on the Florida Spring Training trip.

    Alexa Gonzalez won the first game of the day in relief and then threw a complete game in the second game leading the Susquehanna University Softball team to its first two wins of the season with a 6-5 win over Arcadia in eight innings and a 5-3 win over SUNY Geneseo Sunday at the Sleepy Hallow Softball Complex in Leesburg, Florida.

    The Susquehanna University Softball team struggled at the plate falling in both games of a doubleheader at Virginia Wesleyan to open the 2017 season. The River Hawks fell 8-0 in five innings in the opener and then dropped a 4-1 decision in game two Sunday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
