The Susquehanna University Softball team is predicted to advance to the Landmark Conference tournament for a ninth consecutive season as the River Hawks finished No. 3 in the preseason coach's poll release by the conference office Thursday.
Moravian is predicted to win the conference title with 60 points and six first-place votes followed by Catholic (50 points, 1 first-place vote) and then Susquehanna (31 points). The River Hawks are predicted to finish ahead of Scranton (22), Elizabethtown (17), Juniata (10) and Drew (6).
Last year, Susquehanna finished in a tie for second place with Catholic as both teams finished with a 9-3 record. Moravian won the conference title with an 11-1 record and Scranton was the final team in the tournament with a 6-6 mark.
The River Hawks open the conference portion of the schedule March 25 at Scranton.
