The Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team has been picked to finish seventh in the Landmark Conference standings according to the preseason poll released Tuesday by the conference office. The poll was conducted with votes from all of the women's basketball head coaches in the conference.
Moravian and Catholic were tied for first in the poll with each garnering 58 points. Moravian had four first-place votes and Catholic had one first-place vote. Scranton was close behind in third place with 56 points and three first-place votes while Elizabethtown (32 points) was fourth.
The next three teams were very close in the voting with Juniata (22) in fifth, Drew (20) in sixth and Susquehanna (19) in seventh place. Goucher (7) rounded out the standings in eighth place.
The River Hawks finished the 2016-17 season with a 14-11 overall record and a 5-9 conference mark to finish sixth in the final standings.
Susquehanna opens the 2017-18 season Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19 hosting the Susquehanna Trailways Tipoff Tournament and will host Penn St. Berks in the opening round game. The River Hawks will play either New Jersey City University or Thiel College in the consolation or championship game Sunday afternoon.
