Susquehanna Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Centennial Conference Championships

HAMPSTEAD, Md. -- The Susquehanna University women's golf team finished in fifth place out of five teams at the 2009-10 Centennial Conference championships, held at Piney Branch Golf Club from April 24-25.

Susquehanna's team of seniors Rachel Villano [Clayton, Calif./Downingtown West (Pa.)] and Laura Brickley (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and sophomores Alissa Perez (Monmouth Junction, N.J./South Brunswick) and Amanda Keister (State College, Pa./State College) totaled a two-day score of 851 on the par-72, 5,806-yard course.

McDaniel College won the team title with a 723 total, edging Franklin & Marshall College by just one stroke. Gettysburg College (801) and Dickinson College (831) followed, respectively. Ursinus College did not register a team score.

Villano finished in sixth place individually out of 25 players with a 182 total, just one spot shy of all-Centennial honors. Franklin & Marshall's freshman Meghan Maloney (Milton, Ga./Milton) earned the individual championship with a 166 score.

Perez shot a 194 to finish in 12th place. Brickley's 235 was good for 19th, and Keister's 240 placed her 20th.
