Seniors Get Big Win for Women’s Lacrosse
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Ten goals in the first nine minutes of the game put the Susquehanna women’s lacrosse team in control early as the Crusaders went on to a 20-5 victory over visiting USMMA on Saturday afternoon.
SU (8-4, 4-1), which also celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, matched its season high in goals while improving to 4-1 in Landmark Conference play. Every player that dressed for the Crusaders saw playing time and 12 different players scored at least one goal, with six players netting two.
Senior Emma Ehler (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) had one goal and game-high six assists and classmate Michelle McGinniss (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) scored twice, added an assist and had eight draw controls
Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) started the game in goal and played the first 8:17 before giving way to Carolyn Figliola (Weston, Conn./Weston). Senior Katelyn Brower (North Caldwell, N.J./Wes Essex) played the final 43:10 of the game.
Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) scored the game’s opening goal a mere 13 seconds into the action and was first of 12 unanswered goals for SU. The Crusaders led 13-1 with 15:43 still to play in the half and went into halftime leading 14-3.
Merchant Marine was able to score just two second-half goals against the Susquehanna defense while SU added six of its own, including the first four of the half.
The Crusaders remain at home to host McDaniel on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
