Kathrina DeMaio scored her second goal of the first half to give the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team a 5-4 lead but Sewanee University scored the next six consecutive goals to end the first period and went on to post a 13-9 victory Friday afternoon in a non-conference game at Puett Field in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Susquehanna (3-3) was down 2-0 and 3-1 early in the first half before DeMaio scored a man-up goal that sparked a three-goal run that included goals by Ashley Rose Lynn and Caroline Radiecki that put the River Hawks ahead 4-3.

Sewanee (8-1) tied the game less than a minute later but DeMaio scored 26 seconds after that to regain the lead for Susquehanna at 5-4.

Sewanee scored the final six goals of the half to take a 10-5 lead into the intermission.

In the second half, Liv Cohn scored 1:07 into the period to trim the lead but Sewanee answered with three consecutive goals to go up 13-6.

Kaitlin Homberg stopped the run and the teams traded goals for the final 12 minutes of action for the final score.

Lynn led the River Hawks with four points on two goals and two assists while DeMaio added two goals, Brooke Klair added a goal and two assists and Cohn had a goal and an assist. Klair added a team-leading nine draw controls while Brooke Burnett and Alison Elf had three caused turnovers each.

Libby Dex made a career-high 15 saves for the River Hawks.

Susquehanna will play at DeSales Wednesday and return home March 25 for the Landmark Conference opener against Elizabethtown.
