Second Half Run Downs Women’s Lacrosse

After trailing by just three goals at halftime, the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team surrendered a 6-1 run to start the second half and Lycoming went on to post a 16-10 victory Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

Lycoming (5-4) opened the game with three goals in the first 10 minutes but Susquehanna (6-5) bounced back with a pair of goals by Ashley Rose Lynn and Helena Woytovich cutting the lead to 3-2.

The Warriors scored four of the next five to take a 7-3 lead as Woytovich added her second goal of the game in the middle of the run and Liv Cohn capped the first half scoring with an assist from Caroline Rabiecki to trim the lead to three after 30 minutes of action.

In the second half, Lycoming opened the scoring and Cohn added a man-down goal to keep it a three-goal game. The Warriors answered with five straight goals over the next 11 minutes.

Stephanie Dowling scored for the River Hawks to stop the run and Brooke Burnett added a goal as Susquehanna closed to within six at 13-7 with 8:02 left to play.

The teams traded goals over the final eight minutes as Rabeicki scored twice and Lynn added her second of the game to cap the scoring with 13 seconds left on the clock.

Rabiecki led the River Hawks with five points on two goals and three assists, Lynn had four points with two goals and two assists and Woytovich finished with three points with two goals and an assist.

Shannon Kinney led the defense with three caused turnovers and Emily Digaetano made 10 saves in the Susquehanna goal.

The River Hawks travel to Catholic University for Landmark Conference action Saturday before returning home the following Saturday to face Goucher in conference play on Sassafras Field.
