THE SHORT STORY: The Susquehanna women's soccer team handed the Catholic University of America its first loss this season as SU won 2-1 at home Saturday afternoon.
RECORDS: The River Hawks are now 6-2 on the season with a 1-0 record in Landmark action while Catholic falls to 6-1 and 0-1.
THE BEST SINCE: This win matches the best start for SU since the 2009 squad also opened the season with a 6-2 record. This also marks the first time that Susquehanna defeated Catholic since entering the Landmark Conference in 2007. The teams tied 0-0 in 2012 and 2013.
THE GOALS: The River Hawks scored the first goal of the game when Alyssa Bolger scored on a pass from Chloe Eisenhuth at the 11:41 mark. Eight minutes later, the Cardinals' Lindsay Aleman answered with a goal to tie the game at one. The turning point came in the 84th minute when Emily Sullivan scored on a rebounded Bolger shot to give SU the 2-1 lead and ultimately the win.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: Catholic managed to out-shoot Susquehanna 12-7 with both teams taking six shots on goal. Bolger led the River Hawks in shots, taking three of SU's seven. Grayclynn Juckes took two shots while Sullivan went 1-1 on shots and Alex Edelman added one of her own. Goalie Jordyn Slocum earned the win five saves in her 90 minutes of work.
