TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna women's soccer players Emily Sullivan and Jordyn Slocum have swept the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week awards with Sullivan picking up offensive and Slocum picking up defensive recognition.
Sullivan's goal less than two minutes into overtime gave SU the 1-0 road win over Wilkes University Tuesday night. It marked the sophomore's second goal of the season and her second game winner.
Sullivan scored her second game winner of the week when SU defeated Catholic in Landmark Conference action Saturday. The River Hawks won 2-1 with Sullivan scoring the game winner off of a rebounded shot from teammate Alyssa Bolger in the 84th minute. Sullivan went one-for-one in shots.
This season, Sullivan is tied for first on the team in goals (3), and second in points (6). All three of her goals have been game winners.
Slocum made five saves on six shots on goal in SU's 2-1 win over Catholic this weekend.
On the season, Slocum has started all six games that she has played and has totaled 20 saves, six goals against, 1.00 GAA, a .769 save percentage and has one shutout to her name.
The win against Catholic marks the first time that Susquehanna defeated Catholic since the inception of the Landmark Conference. The River Hawks are 6-2-0, 1-0 Landmark on the season.
SU returns to action on Tuesday, September 27 when the team travels to Hood College for a 3:30 p.m. game.
