QUICK STORY: The Susquehanna women's soccer team was narrowly edged by visiting Elizabethtown College, 1-0, in a critical conference game on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED? The River Hawks and the Blue Jays were scoreless for the first 89-plus minutes of the game before Maria Boretti scored in the 89th minute off a free kick just outside the 18-meter box.
RECORDS: Susquehanna is now 11-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the Landmark Conference. Elizabethtown is 5-9-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the Landmark.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE: The River Hawks out-shot the Blue Jays 10-9 and totaled four corner kicks to Elizabethtown's three. Alyssa Bolger led all players in shots with four while Alex Edelman, Alee Petit and Emily Sullivan each had two. Goalie Jennifer Thorsheim made two saves in her 90 minutes of work.
DID YOU KNOW? This was the first conference goal the team has surrendered since Oct. 8 when the team suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Scranton.
PRIOR TO THE GAME: SU celebrated Senior Day on Saturday honoring seven seniors before hosting Elizabethtown: Jordyn Slocum, Alex Edelman, Cassandra Destefano, Emily Firestone, Ashley Rose Lynn, Shauna Barry and Rachel Moyer.
