Emily Sullivan scored her second goal of the season with just 16 seconds left in regulation play to give the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team its second shutout win of the 2017 season with a 1-0 victory over Albright College in Reading, Pa.
With less than a minute left, Mairead Ruane as fouled from behind giving Sullivan the opportunity for a free kick in front of the Albright (1-1) goal. Sullivan found the upper left corner of the net to give the River Hawks (2-0) the win.
With this win, the River Hawks have earned their second shutout win of the season, including their 3-0 win over Lycoming College in the River Derby Trophy game earlier this week.
"The two shut outs say a lot about our athleticism and hard work on defense," said Head Coach Nick Hoover about his defensive back line.
Senior goalie Julia Tolin improved to 2-0 on not only the season but also in her collegiate career.
"Julia (Tolin) is playing better than we could have asked for," said Hoover. "She had two big saves in the first game and then in this one she made a great save to keep them from finding the back of the net."
Susquehanna will take on Misericordia at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sassafras Field.
