SU Swimming Competes at Day One of Bucknell Invitational


LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the first day of competition at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday, the only Division III institution in the field of Division I squads.

For the women, Ashlee Weingarten (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) and Jessica Jozefiak (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) set personal records in the 50 free with Weingarten finishing in 25.14 in the morning's preliminary round and Jozefiak touching the wall with a time of 25.63, also in the preliminary round.

Annie Bruxelles (Hockessin, Del./Sanford School)  finished closely behind Jozefiak in 25.65. Joann Butkus (Barnesville,Pa./Tamaqua Area) and Kyle Seaman (Moreland Hills, Ohio/Orange) also competed and swam respective times of 25.76 and 25.79.

In the 500 free, Lexi Cole (Danville, Pa./Danville) swam to 36th place in the field of 58 swimmers in 5:13.87. Kelsey Lessard (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) also finished 40th in the 200 IM (2.12.22).

On the men's side, Bill Crumrine (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) finished 31st in the 500 free (4:46.63) and David Miller (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) took 42nd in the 50 free (22.71).

The foursome of Duncan Frazier (Montgomery, Pa./Williamsport Area), Danny Csakai (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), Miller and Crumrine placed 11th in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:28.26.

Later, the team of Miller, Csakai, Crumrine and Eric Lawrence (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) finished 17th in the 400 medley relay in 3:35.58.

The teams continue competition at Bucknell over the weekend with some members also competing against Drew at a home Landmark Conference meet on Saturday at 10 a.m.
