Weingarten Named Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete Award Winner

For the second consecutive year a member of the Susquehanna University Women's Swimming and Diving team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete Award Winner for Women's Swimming and Diving. Ashlee Weingarten has been selected for the 2016-17 season while Kelsey Lessard won the award last year for the River Hawks.

The 2017 Landmark Swimmer of the Year, Weingarten ends her Susquehanna career as a five-time individual conference champion, winning the 100 and 200 butterfly twice and the 200 individual medley once. She was also a part of five first place relay teams, including Landmark record-setting performance in the 200 and 400 medley relays this past February.

The River Hawks finished first in all four years Weingarten has been a member of Susquehanna's swim program. In addition to her 10 Landmark titles, Weingarten has earned All-Landmark accolades 12 times over her four years at Susquehanna.

Outside the pool, Weingarten maintains a 3.40 grade-point average while majoring in Strategic Communications-Public Relations. Weingarten earned a spot on the Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll in each of her three eligible seasons.

The Landmark Conference selects 20 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
