Women Open Spring Schedule with a Win

The Susquehanna University Women's Tennis team won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to post an 8-1 victory Sunday over Marietta College on the first day of competition during the Spring Training trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Megan Rudloff, Eliza Griffin, Linsey Sipple and Cassey Fox all won two matches each for Susquehanna (5-2).  

Rudloff and Sipple teamed to post an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and then Sipple won a 6-0, 6-0 match at No. 2 singles and Rudloff won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

Griffin and Fox won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles and then Griffin won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Fox posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.

The doubles team of Alyssa Fleischman and Abigail Ransom won the closest match of the day postingan 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. Fleischman split the first two sets at No. 1 singles with 6-4 scores and then fell 10-7 in the third set tiebreaker. Ransom was scratched from singles play and Amy Jennings won a 6-1, 6-0 No. 6 singles match in her place.

The River Hawks will face Milliken Tuesday in the second of three matches in South Carolina to start the Spring season.
