Late Rally Falls Short for Women's Tennis

Linsey Sipple, Eliza Griffin and Cassey Fox recorded singles wins in the final four matches of the day for the Susquehanna University Women's Tennis team but the comeback fell short as the River Hawks dropped a 5-4 decision to Juniata to end the 2016-17 season Wednesday afternoon on the Garrett Center Courts in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna won the opening match of the day as the doubles team of Griffin and Fox posted an 8-4 win. Juniata rebounded to win the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into the singles matches.

The Eagles won singles matches at No. 1 and No. 4 to take a 4-1 lead but the River Hawks posted wins at No. 2 and No. 4 with Sipple winning a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Griffin took a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 to close the gap to 4-3.

Juniata won  a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 5 clinching the team win before Fox posted the final win of the match with a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
