SU Men's and Women's Track & Field Compete at Swarthmore College
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Members of the Susquehanna University men's and women's track & field teams competed at Swarthmore College's Tuppeny Twilight Meet/Last Chance Meet at Walter T. Skallerup, Jr. Track on May 10. There was no team scoring.
Junior Braden Klingler (Selinsgrove, Pa.) led Susquehanna with a second-place finish out of 12 athletes in the javelin throw with a distance of 60.11 meters (197 feet, 2 inches).
Teammate and senior Paul Thistle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) placed 27th out of a diverse field of 75 athletes, including many from NCAA Division I, with a time of 3 minutes, 53.96 seconds in the 1,500-meter run. That time provisionally qualifies Thistle for the 2010 Division III championships in that event.
Junior Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) was the lone Susquehanna female competing. Woodruff placed 36th out of a diverse field of 53 athletes, including many from Division I, with a time of 4:48.10 in the women's 1,500-meter run.
