Reese Takes Second in 10K on Day One of Landmark Championships

Freshman Erin Reese raced to a second place finish Saturday in the 10,000-meter race to pace the Susquehanna University Women's Track and Field team on the first day of competition at the Landmark Conference Championships at Moravian University in Bethlehem.

Susquehanna currently sits in fourth place with 20 team points. Competition concludes Sunday.

Reese was in the lead pack of runners for the entire race and finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of the third place runner. Emily Leboffe placed seventh and Rachel Daley was ninth in the race as well for the River Hawks.

In preliminary races Saturday, Jasmine Mitchell qualified first in the 100 meter dash with Carlye McQueen taking third and Samantha Reed seventh as all three qualified for finals on Sunday.

Reed was also third in the 200 meter dash preliminaries and McQueen seventh to earn spots in the Sunday finals while Michelle Turnbach was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles prelims.

Others making appearances on the podium Saturday for the River Hawks were Amy Kaschak (5th place) and Hannah Stauffer (6th) in the 1500 meters and Sarah Rinaldi who placed sixth in the long jump for Susquehanna.
