SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna volleyball player Erin Byrne and men's soccer goalie Matt Ellingworth have been named SAAC High Flyers for the week ending October 23.
Byrne started in all four matches last week as SU went 4-0. In each match, Byrne totaled at least 10 kills and had a hitting percentage over .250.
In the first match of the week, the River Hawks defeated Coast Guard 3-2 with Byrne leading in kills with 17. She had only two errors on 30 attempts for a hitting percentage of .500.
Susquehanna defeated Stevens 3-0 in the second match of the week. Byrne tallied 13 kills with two errors and 26 attempts for a hitting percentage of .423 against a Stevens team ranked first in the New York Region.
Against Cabrini, Byrne had her highest hitting percentage of the week as SU won in three sets. She managed 13 kills and had only one error on 18 attempts for a hitting percentage of .667. Byrne had 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .261 in the last match of the week as SU defeated Rowan 3-0. She also had two block assists and one solo block in the match.
Byrne finished the week with a .454 hitting percentage, 54 kills, 10 errors and 97 attempts. She also totaled seven assists, 14 digs, three solo blocks and four block assists.
This season, Byrne leads the team with a .361 hitting percentage. She is second on the team in kills with 292 and total blocks with 51. Byrne also has 56 assists and 49 digs.
The River Hawks are 27-5 overall this season with a 5-1 mark in the Landmark Conference.
Ellingworth played all 110 minutes of SU's 2-2 tie against Elizabethtown on Saturday with a total of six saves.
This season, Ellingworth has a record of 5-3-2 and totals 41 saves, 10 goals against for a goals against average of 0.95. He has played 952:12 minutes and has a save percentage of .804 and five shutouts.
The River Hawks are 6-3-3 overall with a 3-1-2 mark in Landmark Conference action.
