Senior Morgan Lowe had 20 kills in each of the two matches Friday evening for the Susquehanna University Volleyball team but the River Hawks split the two matches defeating Randolph Macon and falling to Averett at the Mary Washington University Invitational in Fredricksburg, Virginia.
Susquehanna (3-3) posted a three-set victory in the opener with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-23 victory over Randolph Macon but dropped a four-set decision to Averett by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 18-25 and 18-25.
"We started the day very well in our first match," said Head Coach John Tom. "We lost some focus in the second match and the little things came back to hurt us."
Lowe was the offensive leader for the River Hawks all day. She recorded 20 kills and had an impressive .685 hitting percentage in the opener and added 20 more kills and a .512 percentage in the second match.
Hannah Lyons added 11 kills against Randolph Macon and finished with eight kills in the Averett match.
Helen Forman handed out 36 assists in the win and contributed 13 in the second match. Tara Mahoney led the River Hawks with five blocks in the first match while Veronica Kirchner was the leader with eight blocks in the second match as Susquehanna recorded 16 blocks in the four-set match.
The River Hawks continue play at the Mary Washington Tournament Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Berry University and a 4:30 p.m. matchup with host Mary Washington.
