NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men’s and women’s cross country squads took the road to compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet on Saturday morning where the men’s team placed 14th and the women finished 26th. The meet took place at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa. and was hosted by Dickinson College.

The men’s field of 54 teams saw Haverford win the team title on the 8k coursed while Johns Hopkins took home first for the women in the 6k race.

Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was SU’s top finisher, taking 48th overall in the 343-runner field with a 20-second personal-best time of 26:46.8. Freshman John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) was less than 20 seconds behind, crossing the finish in 27:01.5 and Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) recorded a time of 27:43.6.

Senior Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa./Springfield Twp.) closed out his cross country career with a time of 27:54.8. One runner and two seconds separated D’Angelo and sophomore Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) (27:56.2).

Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) and Evan Skelton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) rounded out the group of SU runners with respective times of 28:14.4 and 28:20.9. Skelton’s time was a mere two seconds off his career PR.

The SU women were 26th out of the 49 teams; the 26th place showing was a three-spot improvement from a year ago. Freshman Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton), the Landmark Conference Female Rookie of the Year, was again across the finish for her team with a time of 24:49.2, 83rd overall.

Senior Sarah Dickerson (York Haven, Pa./Northeastern) was just over 30 seconds behind her with a time of 25:26.0 and West’s classmate, Rachel Bachman (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South), posted a time of 25:44.0.

A mere four seconds after Bachman Kimmie Leonhardt (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) crossed the finish (25:48.6), a one-second PR, and she was followed by Carly Bass (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) (26:31.8).

Diane Lindemuth (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) ran a time of 26:44.9 and Rachel Mack (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Basil Academy) finished roughly 20 seconds later at 27:05.8.

The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s cross country championships take place on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
