Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Regionally Ranked

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Susquehanna men's and women's cross country teams are ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, in the most recent United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Poll, released Tuesday.

The men remain seventh following a solid showing at Penn State's Sept. 13 Spiked Shoe Invitational where SU competed primarily against Division I teams. Following the weekend's race, senior Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was named the Landmark Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

First-year Landmark Conference member Elizabethtown is currently ranked 10th in the Mideast Region after not being ranked in the previous poll. The Crusaders and Blue Jays are the only Landmark teams to receive top 10 regional rankings.

Meanwhile, the Susquehanna women enter the top 10 of the regional rankings for the first time since September 28, 2010. Like the men, SU's women competed against mostly Division I teams at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and junior Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) was named Landmark Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the race.

The Elizabethtown women are ranked just several places above the Crusaders, holding onto the fourth spot in the regional poll. The two squads are the only Landmark teams to earn a top 10 regional ranking.

Both the Susquehanna  men's and women's teams are back in action on Sept. 27 at the Lock Haven Invitational.
